Terms and Conditions
Version 1 · Valid from 12 October 2026
1. About us and these terms
These terms apply to every service Marriage Service Denmark provides to couples who want to marry in Denmark.
- Company: Marriage Service Denmark I/S, CVR 45058077, Adilsvej 8, 4. tv., 2000 Frederiksberg, Denmark. Email: [email protected].
- What we are: a private service company. We are not a Danish authority, a municipality or a law firm, and we do not give legal advice.
- The agreement is made when you pay through our payment link. By paying, you accept these terms.
- "You" means both of you as a couple. We communicate by email.
2. Our services
We offer two packages. Each package consists only of the steps listed below.

Extras, paid separately:
- Certified translation of documents. The price is confirmed in writing before you pay.
- Moving an approved case to another municipality: DKK 1,500.
Not included: witnesses (you bring two yourselves, or the municipality provides them where possible), apostilles, visas, travel, accommodation, wedding planning and legal advice. We do not offer express processing.
3. Prices and payment
You pay the full price in one payment before we start. We do not offer instalments.
- Prices are per couple and in EUR, except the authorities' fee and the municipality change, which are in DKK. All prices include Danish VAT.
- You pay by card through a secure Stripe payment link. We never ask you to pay to a private account.
- With Premium, we pay the authorities' fee to the Danish Agency of Family Law when we submit your application. The fee is set by the authority and is not refunded by it, also if the application is rejected.
- With Basic, you pay the authorities' fee directly to the authority when you submit.
- If the authorities raise their fee before we submit your application, we may charge you the difference.
- Costs charged by others are yours, for example municipal fees for a ceremony outside the city hall, apostilles and bank or card charges.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for all information and documents you give us being true, complete and valid.
- Give us correct information about your nationalities, residence, marital history and relationship.
- Send documents in the format we ask for, and reply within 14 days when we ask you for something.
- Make sure both of you are staying legally in Denmark or the Schengen area on the day of the ceremony. Visas, entry, travel and accommodation are your responsibility.
- Do not book non-refundable travel before the municipality has confirmed your ceremony date in writing.
- Bring two witnesses with valid ID, unless the municipality has confirmed in writing that it provides them, and bring the documents the municipality asks for.
- Tell us straight away if something changes, for example if a permit expires or a document is lost.
- If the authorities reject the application or ask for more because your information was wrong or missing, a new application and a new authorities' fee are at your expense.
5. The Premium approval guarantee, and what we do not guarantee
Premium approval guarantee: if the Danish Agency of Family Law rejects an application we submitted for you with Premium, we refund the price you paid us minus the authorities' fee of DKK 2,100, which the authority does not refund. We pay the refund within 14 days of receiving the decision, to the card you paid with.
The guarantee does not cover a rejection caused by:
- information or documents from you that were wrong, incomplete, false or withheld, including changes you did not tell us about, for example a permit that expired;
- your not answering the authority's questions within its deadline, or withdrawing the application;
- the authority's assessment that the marriage is not genuine or would be unlawful;
- an application you asked us to submit against our written advice.
With Basic you submit the application yourselves, and there is no approval guarantee. Apart from the Premium guarantee, we do not guarantee approval, a ceremony date, a specific municipality or any processing time.
- The Danish Agency of Family Law decides whether you may marry. The municipality decides whether and when it can marry you. We have no influence on their decisions or waiting times.
- Any time we mention is an estimate based on experience, not a promise.
- An approval is valid for four months and is issued for one specific municipality. If it expires before you marry, a new application and a new authorities' fee are needed at your expense, unless the expiry is caused by our error.
- Whether another country recognises your marriage, and what it means for residence rights there, is decided by that country.
6. Right of withdrawal (14 days)
You may withdraw from the agreement within 14 days of paying, without giving a reason.
- Early start: we only start work within the 14 days if you ask us to when you pay (the checkbox in the appendix). Most couples do, so the case is not delayed.
- If you withdraw after we have started at your request, you pay for the work done until we receive your withdrawal, using the amounts in section 7. With Premium, this includes the authorities' fee if we have already paid it on your behalf.
- You lose the right of withdrawal when the service has been fully performed, if you asked us to start early and accepted that you would lose the right.
- How to withdraw: email [email protected] with a clear statement, or use the form in the appendix, before the 14 days have passed.
- Refund: we refund any amount due within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal, to the card you paid with.
7. Cancellation, refunds and payment disputes
You can cancel at any time by email, but you pay for the work we have done. We refund the rest within 14 days.
| When you cancel | Basic: we keep | Premium: we keep |
|---|---|---|
| Before we have started work | Nothing (full refund) | Nothing (full refund) |
| After we have sent your personal document list | EUR 120 | EUR 150 |
| After we have reviewed your documents | EUR 245 (full price) | EUR 350 |
| After we have submitted your application | – | EUR 795 (full price) |
- Rejection: with Premium, the approval guarantee in section 5 applies. With Basic, we do not refund the price, because the work has been done. If a rejection is caused by our own error, we correct it and help you resubmit once at our own expense.
- No ceremony time: if no municipality has a suitable time within the approval's validity, the price is not refunded. We can move the case to another municipality as an extra service (section 2).
- Payment disputes: if you think something is wrong with a payment, contact us first. If you open a chargeback instead, we may pause your case until it is resolved and share the relevant documentation with the card issuer.
8. Our right to end the agreement
We may end the agreement by email with immediate effect if:
- you have given false or misleading information or documents;
- we have reason to believe that the marriage is not genuine or would be unlawful;
- you have not replied to our requests for 60 days;
- you behave abusively towards us, the authorities or the municipality.
In these cases we keep payment for the work done, as set out in section 7. If we end the agreement for any other reason, we refund everything you have paid for work not yet done.
9. Liability
Our total liability is limited to the price you have paid us, to the extent the law allows.
- We are not liable for indirect losses, such as flights, travel, accommodation, visa costs, lost earnings or a wedding celebration that has to be moved.
- We are not liable for decisions, errors, delays or IT problems at the authorities or municipalities, or for the consequences of wrong or missing information from you.
- We are not liable for delays caused by circumstances outside our control, such as strikes, illness, IT failures or changes in law.
- These limits do not apply if we have acted intentionally or with gross negligence.
10. Personal data
We use your personal data only to handle your marriage case, and we delete it three months after the wedding.
- What we collect: names, contact details, nationality, residence, copies of passports and permits, marital history, evidence of your relationship, and your witnesses' names and addresses.
- Who we share it with: the Danish Agency of Family Law and the municipality, as far as the case requires. Our data processors are Stripe (payment), Google (email and storage) and Anthropic (an AI service that helps us draft replies).
- Deletion: we delete your documents and case data three months after the wedding, or three months after the case ends without a wedding. Accounting records are kept for five years, as Danish law requires.
- Your rights: you can ask for access, correction or deletion at [email protected], and complain to Datatilsynet, the Danish Data Protection Agency.
11. Complaints, governing law and changes
Complaints go to [email protected] first, and we answer within 14 days.
- If we cannot agree, you can complain to Nævnenes Hus, the Danish consumer complaints board (naevneneshus.dk). If you live in another EU country, you can also contact the European Consumer Centre Denmark (forbrugereuropa.dk).
- Danish law applies. This does not remove any mandatory consumer protection in your country of residence.
- We may update these terms. The version in force when you paid applies to your agreement. This is version 1.
